Does any of this seem familiar:

Republican squeaks out an electoral college win despite a popular vote loss. Are completely uninterested in taking a moderate approach given the cloud hanging over that win. Nope, it's "our way and you can't do anything about it!"

Republican administration swaggers into office with open contempt for its Democratic predecessor;

Was warned about dangers by the outgoing administration, but blew off those warnings because they were sure they knew better;

Proceeded to defund, deprioritize, and divert resources away from the structures the prior administration set up to provide an early warning of those dangers and help prevent disasters, mostly because they were sure they knew better, and besides, those things had Republicanly Incorrect names associated with them, so they had cooties;

Are caught flat footed by the very sort of danger they were warned about, and due to their own negligence, arrogance, and spite, it manifests in the worst possible way.

Never call it "Trumpism."
