One time, many years ago, I was camping at a lake that had a cliff on the opposite shore. There was a very strong 1-second echo from that cliff. I thought about that echo for a couple of hours, and then got out the alto recorder I had brought with me to amuse myself. It took a few tries, but I managed to come up with a melody that worked with the echo to create a three-part harmony, using the echo as two of the parts.

A little partaking of the five-lobed happy leaf helped considerably, I must say.
