Black Lives Matter- that is some statement for a 22 year old. 2nd US Open win.
Azarenka did well in this tournament.

(64,988 posts)Obviously, she is a terrific ball striker. The pro thing tipped me off.
But, it appears her greatest skill is speed & quickness.
She's like a mongoose on the court!

This is Naomis year (again) I think.

(268,885 posts)She's good - unbeaten once she reaches quarters.
She has international power because she and her sister also faced racism in Japan as well and her dad is a Caribbean man from Haiti.

(2,023 posts)...was that the fact that Naomi chose to have SEVEN masks at the ready from the beginning of the tournament (not just two or three, or four) showed her confidence that she was going to make it all the way to the final, and win it. I watched the whole match, from the preliminary tennis-talking-heads buildup all the way through the post-match awards ceremony and interviews and commentary.
But that's not the point Naomi was making in wearing the masks, of course. She was making the point that we should not forget the names of those victims of police violence. I like Naomi Osaka, and I like her even more after this.
