Joe Biden
@JoeBiden
Irans cruel execution of Navid Afkari is a travesty. No country should arrest, torture, or execute peaceful protestors or activists.
Iran must free its other political prisoners, including Nasrin Sotoudeh, and release unjustly detained Americans.

We condemn in the strongest terms the unlawful execution of #NavidAfkari, which demonstrates the Iranian judiciarys complete disregard for law, justice and international standards of due process. #نوید_افکاری https://iranhumanrights.org/2020/09/execution-of-navid-afkari-irans-judiciary-is-a-tool-of-political-repression-and-violence-and-a-threat-to-the-people/

...To the leaders of Iran, I would greatly appreciate if you would spare this young mans life, and not execute him. Thank you! @UFC @DanaWhite @FoxNews

(14,918 posts)7. From the Biden-Harris Criminal Justice Plan:
https://joebiden.com/justice/#
"Eliminate the death penalty. Over 160 individuals whove been sentenced to death in this country since 1973 have later been exonerated. Because we cannot ensure we get death penalty cases right every time, Biden will work to pass legislation to eliminate the death penalty at the federal level, and incentivize states to follow the federal governments example. These individuals should instead serve life sentences without probation or parole."
