We are an advanced and educated nation with millions of morons wrapped around our ankles trying to get us to come back inside the cave and look at chicken bones to explain rainfall.

(10,828 posts)It made me laugh out loud, even though it's a chilling reminder of how out-to-lunch these Trumpers/QAnons really are. That being said, I found the description apt, on the mark and funny as hell.
From everything I'm reading (I think Nichols' tweet was in response to a Vanity Fair article), these Born Again Delusionals buy into the whole Savior Come to Save Us schtick. There are plenty of hangers on--the grifters, the Neo-Nazis, the general malcontents--but the larger percentage are the True Believers of every hoax, crackpot conspiracy and knucklehead theory. They're devoted to Trump and if the man were to say, 'throw those chicken bones," that's exactly what they'd do.

Remind me, again. What century is this????

(18,122 posts)It's embarrassing to admit this, but we as a nation are regressing back to a less enlightened time. I remember how I felt when Kennedy inspired us to go to the moon. A lot of people (me included) went into the sciences. Now people brag about their ignorance. The anti-intellectual trend here just appalls me.
