As a result of these rating changes, the Florida House is now Safe Republican in our ratings. It's no longer a competitive chamber. It is quite possible that Republicans will have a net gain of seats in the chamber this year, though, of the 7 Toss-Up districts, they control 6.

Florida and Ohio are nothing alike, in terms of demographics or anything else
The problem in Florida is that Republicans maximize the state via messaging and relentless year round contact. Democratic operations are always scrambling patchwork in the final 60 days.
Hispanics have indeed shifted somewhat toward Trump. That's what the polling is picking up. This should have been easily anticipated 2 years ago but somehow the party operation assumed 70-30 was cemented and no emphasis required.

(7,604 posts)Who needs Social Security anyway? Anyone can live off the land, eh? Florida's weather is good enough for all outdoor living, year round. And someone will always put up a shelter when a hurricane roars by, but that's all they have to fear. So why not dump Social Security and Medicare for a Trumpian second term? Sounds like fun!
