I'd say 1918.

It had the Spanish flu pandemic, killing over 600k Americans. Still had the rump end of WWI with its paltry 50k American soldiers dead. Embittered and motivated Hitler, wounded in 10/18.

Of course, WWI set the stage for the treaties in and obligations in Europe that led to WWII.

It had the Russian Revolution, which led to oppression and tyranny that killed more in the USSR than Hitler did in Europe, and which led to post-war tyranny and oppression in central Europe. And which led to the oppression in China from Mao, and then the non-domino effect of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. And those led to numerous proxy wars that yielded things like Ortega in Nicaragua and helped keep the two Baathist Husseins in power as well as the Qaddhafi. And which just keeps giving dividends in the form of the Great Putin and the Xi-man in China.

In 1939 Jim Crow south was accepted as matter of fact.

IMO, there is no doubt which was the worst year out of the 3 mentioned.

And that is by getting Il Douche out of office! If we don't accomplish that it really will be the worst year ever.
