(4,845 posts)but they can never pinpoint which part of the education is "liberal". I learned reading comprehension, critical thinking, problem solving, math, physics, etc. but I have never taken a class that directly taught me "liberal ideology".

(10,186 posts)Proud of their own stupidity. I wonder if there is a correlation with trumpers and those who have never lived anywhere else. Society is much more mobile but there are still many people who stay where they grew up, maybe an occasional vacation to some other state or even country.

(12,712 posts)It is interesting to see construction workers who don't know about or understanding the manufacture of their consent.
They are buying into a product designed just for them, but it does not need to correspond at all with reality at all and their cult provides immunity to it.
That product is a reflection and extension of their own ignorance and malleability because Trump provides a caricature character that they can easily identify with. When you look at that Trump, you are seeing who and what these people are at their core and somebody is selling them back to themselves and the funny part is they may have no actual idea about what is going on in that exchange.

(70,501 posts)White, racist, high school grad (maybe), listen to Rush & Fox, 85% of them are concealed carry
or want to be, and they like the fact that Trump is an asshole because he is not politically correct.
Although they do not reflect all of the state .... but at a construction site "those types" tend to be
concentrated.
And many of them really believe that antifa exists and that the blacks want to take over.
Corvid 19 will take many of them out because they don't believe in masks.

(81,472 posts)Thus the alacrity with which Republicans ditched free trade and fiscal conservatism. Thus, too, the transformation in how they viewed the economy within days of the 2016 election. Mr Trumps subsequent success in binding in his supporters ever tighter owes to the relentlessness with which he has highlighted, again and again, the values they have entrusted him with and the threats to those values, real and imagined, he claims his critics present.
Unlike any predecessor, he has never stopped campaigning. He held a hundred rallies as president not including presidential set pieces, such as state-of-the-union addresses, that he treats as purely political events before his re-election campaign began. He has decried even conservative critics as enemies of what he and his voters stand for. The effect of this constant grandstanding is to keep challenging his supporters to recommit themselves to him, publicly or privately, and in the process harden their loyalty.

Botany
(70,501 posts)and yes go to a construction site full of uneducated white men in OH ... or anywhere else
and you will get Trump supporters. Ohio has become Alabama north but given a clean vote
here Trump will get crushed.

(14,853 posts)The biggest Republican / Trump supporters are often found among semi-skilled white workers who had to make the 'monumental sacrifice' of a few weeks or months for training.
Like the lengthy training to become a cop.

(4,845 posts)The problem is that the media decided to continue to make uneducated white men or college educated white men their focus while ignoring the other majority of people. They love their "silent Trump voter" narrative.
