Using an angst-ridden teenager to score politically-motivated hits on her parents is deeply disturbing.

Pissed off teenagers will say and do horrible and damaging things, precisely because they are old enough to retaliate against their parents but not really old enough to appreciate the full implications of what they're doing. It's no accident that many teens make their childhood run-away attempt at Claudia's age: they're in a period of deep emotional and social turmoil, chafing under their parents' authority, and first becoming aware of the wider world.

That's not to say Claudia should be ignored. Her accusations should be relayed to the appropriate authorities, and the family, at the very least, need to be in counseling. But using her in a documentary to attack her mother's professional work is really shameless.

That's a brutal piece. This young'un definitely has a slew of problems. Doesn't help to have parents who have worked in the public sphere or in a world where social media exposes so much, too much.

I empathize with the daughter. It's really easy to get lost at this age. Without strong family support, it's almost a given. Back in the day, I was one of the 'lost'. So, I know how lonely and isolated 15-16 year olds can feel when they don't believe the adults in their lives have their back or when the term 'love' seems like a twisted joke. It's going to take years for this youngster to get on her feet.
