This is unfortunately what the corporate media does. They favor the narrative of the horse race. It is completely ridiculous to expect Joe Biden to be "playing President", I mean that is what Trump is doing except Trump is actually the President with real power and authority vested in his office.
For Stephanopoulos to expect a blow for blow response from a man who at the time was still in the primaries and was by no means the "presumptive nominee", is indicative of the media's complicity with the idea of "both sides".
I can say WITHOUT A DOUBT that if Joe Biden or Hillary Clinton were in office, the pandemic would likely still have happened, but we would have had our Global Pandemic Response Team on the ground in China. We would have been coordinating a transparent response with the WHO. Our national stockpile of PPE and ventilators would have been full and sent immediately to where they were needed. The transition team would have gamed out the response to a potential global pandemic with the outgoing Obama administration and would have had a game plan. There would have been mass testing and contact tracing at the first signs of COVID-19 in America. We might have shut down, but it would have been brief and there would have been economic support for those affected. Our economy and schools would have been re-opened with testing and threat mitigation in place. FINALLY, we likely would have lost a couple hundred people, maybe up to a couple thousand people, which would have been a tragedy, but we would not be sitting on almost 200,000 dead, 30,000 new cases a day, 700 to 1000 dying every day, and STILL NO GODDAMNED PLAN except to try and hide numbers and shift the blame!!
