An independent prosecutor is a one-stop-shop, investigation and prosecution combined, with more authority and autonomy than a Meuller style Special Prosecutor.
Congress must pass, and Biden must sign, legislation restoring the Independent Prosecutor law that expired when Ken Starr finished.
Having an IP would free the Biden administration to address the damage of the Trump years, and minimize recriminations of political persecution.

(96,882 posts)"Nuremburg" referred not only to holding Nazi officials and German military officers accountable, but also sweeping everyone under suspicion together and subjecting them to military tribunals, without the full rights of a civilian defendant. That would be a ridiculous approach to rebuilding trust in the American governmental and justice system.
