President Trump pulls ad buy in Ohio; Is Buckeye State still in play?
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX/WTTE) After the presidents campaign canceled a multi-million dollar ad campaign in Ohio, some are wondering if the Buckeye State retains its claim as a battleground swing state for the presidential election. Experts said the pulled ads may reflect problems the Trump campaign has but does not indicate Ohio is any less important than it is every four years.
CNN recently reported the campaign purchased $5.5 million in TV ads in Ohio. But the group Medium Buying reported this week that the campaign pulled the ads here and in a few other states.
La Trice Washington, a political science professor at Otterbein University said by no means has Trump given up on Ohio. But she noted he has problems that may have contributed to the ad pull, especially in the suburbs. She said suburban areas are more ethnically and economically diverse and may not be as receptive to some of the presidents messaging.
He is extremely out of touch with the reality of what the demographics now look like, she said. Its not a Leave it to Beaver type of stereotype.

(81,847 posts)Because Biden report $300+ million. I haven't seen any report for Trump.
Looks like it might be 9/20: https://www.fec.gov/help-candidates-and-committees/dates-and-deadlines/2020-reporting-dates/2020-monthly-filers

(3,781 posts)It was a real doozy too. Crowing about how he "created" 1.4 million jobs, and telling us that the "great American recovery is just getting started." Then playing a clip of Biden saying, "I'd shut it down," completely out of context.

(8,018 posts)Does this mean that they feel Ohio is already "in the bag" for them or they're somewhat behind and want to put their resources elsewhere? I haven't been keeping up that much with Ohio. I'm interested in what folks feel the situation is...

(37,457 posts)Apparently Trump is running very low on campaign money due to his grifting family and associates. Therefore, my theory is that, if this report is accurate, he is doing this to save money for the battleground states and for the last 2-4 weeks of the campaign.
I could be all wrong lol.

(8,018 posts)That makes since. I always feel like frickin' Ohio and Florida (my apologies to DU'ers who live there) are wildcards....It makes me so nervous....

(11,431 posts)Surprised that he didn't just get the ads then stiff them after the election. You read story after story of all the towns he never paid for security and other things for his rallies.
Maybe companies are smarter now and demand money upfront, i know i would with Trump.

(54,302 posts)They will not run ads on TV for weeks on end with invoices unpaid.
They don't have "in God we trust, all others pay cash" on their invoices, but they come close to practicing it all the same.
