4. I have a family friend

and both are American citizens, but born in China and came to the US for master's degree education in the late 1990s. They live in Connecticut. But, the husband went to China on a business trip in December and flew back around, or just after, Christmas. He was in Beijing the entire time, which is over 700 miles north of Wuhan. When he flew back, his wife made him stay in the airport hotel at BDL for a week before allowing him to come home out of fear of the virus. (This was before everybody recommended a 2 week quarantine)

And, this was just a run of the mill couple from Connecticut and they knew it was a dangerous virus in DECEMBER.

most of the US intelligence community should have known about it.

Rumor/Conspiracy Theory from China - there was a big international event in Wuhan back in October of last year that was attended by several hundred Americans and hundreds from other countries as well. In China, many think that the rough flu season in the US from last year was really misdiagnosed coronavirus/covid-19 and that Americans brought it into China and Wuhan with them in October.
