Trump Said He's "Entitled" to a Third Term During Nevada Campaign Push

and Defied COVID-19 Restrictions

Donald Trump spent the weekend campaigning in Nevada, where he told a crowd on Saturday that he will “negotiate” over a third term to which he feels “entitled.” With less than two months until Election Day, the president also reportedly, once again, disregarded measures that could stop the spread of the coronavirus and, at another point, inspired a “Lock him up!” chant about former president Barack Obama.

"And 52 days from now, we're going to win Nevada, and we're going to win four more years in the White House," Trump said Saturday. "And then after that, we'll negotiate, right? Because we're probably, based on the way we were treated, we’re probably entitled to another four after that."

As Business Insider reported, Trump has frequently entertained the idea of pursuing a third term — or more. That flies in the face of a two-term limit, a convention set by George Washington and officially codified in the 22nd amendment when it was ratified in 1951. According to the National Constitution Center, a nonprofit organization in Philadelphia, only one constitutional amendment has ever been repealed — the 18th, a.k.a. Prohibition, which was overturned only by a second constitutional amendment, the 21st.

Trump’s professed entitlement aside, it’s unclear how a businessman with a career like his would “negotiate” his way around the U.S. Constitution, though his relationship with the document has been characterized by what critics have called unfamiliarity, mockery, and threats of subversion. Questions about Trump’s understanding of the nation’s founding document date back to the 2016 campaign trail. But critics have also raised alarms over his willingness to ignore the Constitution.

When one looks at his physical condition it's pretty doubtful he's going to live that long.

Nor does he merit a state funeral . All eulogies will be hilarious at best. Only the Dictators will show up. All our allies will decline to attend.

One doesn't 'negotiate' with the U.S. Constitution. At least not without both Houses of Congress and three-quarters of the states at the table.

He's the world's worst negotiator, other than that hostage negotiator in "Best In Show". But he thinks, six bankruptcies and uncounted failed businesses aside, that he's good at negotiating.

It would be head-shakingly sad if it weren't so pants-shittingly terrifying...

this coming Nov. 2020. The only additional term you'll be serving is a prison term.
