Blacks are monolithic in how they vote. This is a fact. People can debate whether it's deserving but blacks will almost certainly support the Democratic nominee with 80+% of the vote every presidential election.

Biden, maybe inartfully was pointing out that Hispanics and Latinos are more diverse in their political support. There's no better example of this than Cuban-Americans.

But even Biden saw this firsthand in the primaries. Biden did much better among Hispanics in the Southwest (Arizona and Texas) than he did in California.

During the 2004 primary when a surrogate for Howard Dean talked about Latinos, I heard muttering in the audience that the surrogate didn't know that they didn't see themselves as Latino but Hispanic.
