Cuban Americans in Florida: get over it!

You're not going to get your property back in Cuba, no matter how much your great grandparents had over there way back when.

You want to honor those grandparents by sticking with the fantasy? How about honoring your CHILDREN, instead, by sticking with reality? Grow some fucking sense. trump despises you and he and his republicans stack the deck against you.

planning a trip to the olde sod this winter. gonna look up the family places.
wondering if there is a farm there that ought to belong to me.

same ppl did the same thing to my ppl. pushed farmers off their farms for generations. my dna shows my ppl came from the midlands. the hill country, where the farmers fled to.
and where the irish travelers are from.

One group in America, Cubans in FLA, have way too much say in who the president is. There .58% of the US population, but they can swing an important state.

This is also why the needs of the rest of the nation are never addressed. Why we're saddled with massive problems and no real solutions. We've made it easy for politicians to yell, "SOCIALISM", and win an entire state because of it.

7. I believe we have a better chance at reasoning with the Cuban American community than not.

Cuban’s need to realize, they’re related by race to the Mexicans being detained and caged at the border.
Right wing white Americans have almost no use their culture or language, as they see it as a threat to their way of life.
They will however, welcome them as long as they vote republican.

13. Local Cuban elections in Miami are based on foreign policy

Not an exaggeration. If you are running for mayor of Sweetwater it means you and your opponent will debate foreign policy, and not issues related to Sweetwater.

The trend among Cubans is moving in the correct direction. But Obama did too well too fast and that led to unrealistic expectations going forward. The Gillum nomination reversed much of the progress.

However, 20 or 25 years ago when I visited Miami from Las Vegas there was no chance I would ever talk politics to Cuban neighbors. Now that is readily available.

In fact, the family who live next door are a perfect example of the overall dynamic. It is three generations under one roof. The grandmother is in her 90s, a staunch Republican, and speaks zero English. The mother is 75, speaks perfect English, and is a former Republican who now considers either side. She voted for Obama and seems to be leaning toward Biden, but she hated the protests and especially "Defund the Police." She has spoken to me about that many times while she's outside gardening, that the police cannot be defunded. The two sons are in their 40s. One is early 40s and outspokenly anti-Trump. He was in disbelief on election night 2016, knocking on my door with horror on his face. The other is more quiet. He is late 40s. I'm not sure which way he leans.
