Does anyone know if he's still around? His comments and legal analysis have always been serious and factual. I haven't seen any posts from him in a while and a search of DU didn't turn him up.
He's articulate and intelligent and I hope he's well.
Thanks, in advance.

The ffr is on the profile page not on the May 26 post.

(31,261 posts)He may be in Europe following the Tour de France. The real adherents also ride part of the course before or after that race.
He has disappeared for long stretches before.
He does have a sharp legal mind from what I can tell.

(55,312 posts)since it looks like he last posted May 26, he may well be banned.

(55,312 posts)and given the FFR has lasted for over three months, that's a likely possibility.

(39,698 posts)Very few DUers who end up in DU's purgatory, FFR, actual get banned. If jberryhill asked to be reinstated, there's a reasonable chance he would be; the ball is in jberryhill's court.

(55,312 posts)you just no longer find the Admins having to give a reason. Even banned, jb could ask to be reinstated, it is always up to the Admins. The difference is if banned they cannot use their DU mail, if temporarily FFR'd as a time out, they can continue to use it I believe.
Is he in contact with you? If so, that would prove me wrong for sure!

(7,681 posts)This is not a thing anymore. There are people that have been ffr for years.
Spazito
(55,312 posts)Seeing FFR doesn't mean only temporary time out, it can also stand for banned without saying so, makes it simpler for the Admins I am sure.

(51,308 posts)I find that he speaks his mind and doesn't pull punches. He's launched into me a few times. Nothing wrong with that at all.
Some of us go against the narrative. This should not be an echo chamber.
Back in the day, this was a way different board.
I think he's a great contributor here, and I'm sorry he's not here right now.

(51,308 posts)And illuminating.
I've noticed many here have difficulty with disagreement. I'm sure he's aware of that and still speaks his mind.
Here's hoping he comes back soon.

(51,308 posts)I never felt that, but I've got a pretty thick skin.
Taking things personally on message boards is rather silly.
And I could name a good dozen with that same "disparaging" tone in a second, except I know you already know that. Don't you?
pnwmom
(110,216 posts)that made him exceptionally obnoxious, to the point of getting FFR'd. I never alerted on him myself.
Though I rarely hit the alert button, there have been a few times I've been happy to see that an individual was asked to go. He wasn't one of them, but I can imagine he rubbed enough people the wrong way.

(63,221 posts)Even though I think he is a rude and condescending person, I honestly was hoping nothing bad happened to him.
I guess that is what DU does to you. There are a lot of people you don't agree with, but in a way it's kind of like a big dysfunctional family. Even if you may not particularly like someone, you are still concerned about their well being and are genuinely saddened if anything unfortunate happens to them.
I don't know, there are many people I have disagreed with over the years, but eventually, like within a family, you kind of learn to see - as time goes on - that your differences aren't everything and you can learn to forgive people. He was someone who pissed me off on a regular basis, but occasionally he could be funny and very informative.
It's hard. People are so complex and the older I get, the more difficult it is for me to categorize them. I am not saying you are, I am only speaking of my own experience. Just kind of amazed at how much I have changed. Peace!
P.S. Oh well, except for Trump. And most republicans. I can pretty much judge and categorize them without any guilt or remorse and don't feel the slightest bit hypocritical about it. Because they are all complete scum.

(51,308 posts)I disagree with many people here frequently.
Been attacked by many also, but I never wish anyone the ban hammer.
I can think of two over the years I was glad to see gone, but mostly because I thought they made DU look bad.
I find it interesting who participates in grave dancing.
