1. Because most of their shows aren't back in production yet.

Few new episodes of shows are ready, so they have to fill the time with something.

ETA: And they are losing their audience to streaming services.

as long as they make money.

Remember in 2016 when the head of one of the networks said Trump was bad for America but good for their company? They ALL believe that, even if they don't all say it out loud or explicitly.

They offered the same to Biden...who is appearing in his own live town hall in prime time in two days.

of softball questions except two towards the end, but most of them were pretty unfavorable to him.
