In Porter’s mind, the American public is hungry for proof that their government is working for them. As a result, she throws herself into hearings; she understands that the five minutes she has with a witness are the most direct form of democratic action available to her—her best chance to tease out answers to the questions that matter most to her constituents.

It’s also why her videos keep going viral; her ability to demystify technical, often esoteric financial concepts is a boon to those who understand that nitty-gritty details, all the minutiae of government work, are important, but aren’t sure how to connect the dots. It’s not all that different from what she used to do as a professor, and as a textbook author; now, she just has a much larger audience.

...they voted against Trump in 2018. Let me make that clear: They did not vote Democratic. They held their noses and voted against Trump.

They would love to flip that seat red, but I'm not so sure they are ready for a QAnon freak.

In 2016 Costa Mesa went for Hillary. In 2018 women rose to help oust Dana Rohrabacher. After following Rouda closely since 2018, we have a serious minded, environmentally concerned Congressman.

Porter could say that Rouda has had his nose to the grindstone on Climate Change - a large part of our economic future depends on the lind of legislation he works on. The msm is loathe to draw attention to his cause.

Today, as Porter’s first term as a Congresswoman for California’s 45th District draws to a close, her reputation for being a tough–and sometimes theatrical–leader remains intact. In a March 2019 House Committee on Financial Services hearing, Porter stumped Consumer Financial Protection Bureau director Kathy Kraninger on the difference between an interest rate and an annual percentage rate. Unsatisfied with Kraninger’s answer, Porter pulled out a textbook she’d authored, Modern Consumer Law. “I’ll be happy to send you a copy of the textbook that I wrote,” the Congresswoman said.
