Michael Cohen On Why Republicans Support Trump: 'We're Stupid'

“We’re a bunch of sycophants,” the president’s former personal attorney said, describing Trump as a “cult leader.”

Michael Cohen has offered a blunt explanation for why Republicans, including himself, have supported President Donald Trump despite his numerous wrongdoings and attempts to dismantle America’s democracy.

During an appearance on MSNBC, Trump’s former longtime fixer and personal attorney told host Joy Reid that he predicts Trump, if he loses, will claim the Nov. 3 election was rigged and use Attorney General William Barr to invalidate ballots that he will say are “fake” in order to stay in office.

“He doesn’t care about the Constitution of the United States,” he said. “He believes that he’s above everything.”

Reid noted that Trump can’t do these things alone and that Cohen and many others went along with Trump for a long time. She asked, “Why do they do it?”

“Because we’re stupid. You know, we’re a bunch of sycophants,” Cohen said without hesitation. “He’s very much like a cult leader. When you’re in his good grace, you believe that you have this enormous amount of power, which you do, and he somehow manages to convince you to use that power for bad.”

I don't disagree that Republicans are stupid. I mean in the sense of the word that they are arrogantly unintelligent, I certainly agree.

However, I don't think that is why they remain with Trump.

Republicans want power. They cannot get it legitimately because their policies suck and hurt the average citizen. Trump right now is what at the same time represents their fall from any semblance of legitimacy AND their only hope of remaining in power. Their policies are crap and their ideology is bankrupt.

It's all about power.

or tonight on CNN or MSNBC. Scaramucci also said that they are "sycophants" as well on CNN.

I watch the news but forget the individual stations after a while.

They were steam rolling countries, taken France, and had England on the ropes. That didn't turn out as well as they had planned.

Conservatives unfortunately, have an ideology that needs to be swept into the dustbin of history. It is very doubtful that it will happen in our lifetime or ever even, but conservatism is all about protecting what they call the "natural hierarchy" which is that White people in general and Rich White men specifically, should be in charge of society, and that people of color and women generally, should be made to serve the top of the pyramid.

He’s saying Republicans are stupid. I’d say it’s a combination of that and indoctrination for many.

story about Satan's kid and Satan worshipers vs witches.

A scene reminded me of Republicans and third party voters. Satan worshipers were initiating a new member. He had to kill two people, their nemesis: liberal do-gooders. One was a social worker who spent her entire life easing the lives of those less fortunate. The other was with Doctors Without Borders. The initiate introduced himself as a former chief accountant at Gawker.

The idea that you can sell your soul to the devil in return for success and stuff, yearn for the apocalypse -- so Republican. Now that I think about it, Trump totally sold his soul to the devil. That's why he's still alive and gets away with everything. Witches need to get going and bring him down.

Ha, on edit, just after I posted this I turned the series on again and Satan's kid says maybe he should run for president.
