On the one hand, he claims mail-in ballots can't be secret because they come attached to your name on the outside of the envelope. On the other hand, he claims people will round up ballots and fill them out fraudulently. How can you do the latter without the required signatures? My understanding is the signatures are checked.

(17,862 posts)Vaccine is imminent, but we are practicing herd immunity. That is contradictory. That means everyone who gets it before the vaccine is available that would have avoided it with risk mitigation (social distancing, masks, limiting gatherings), is a needless victim. That for ta tiny bit of economic activity.

(46,035 posts)Just the idea they'd consider herd immunity boggles the mind. We'd be talking about well over 2 million deaths.

(30,613 posts)He said he wants herd mentality, which is clearly a true statement if you look at any MAGAT rally.

(7,754 posts)secrecy envelope and is no longer connected to the mailing envelope. So what he is claiming is that the election workers don't seperate the secret ballot from the mailing envelope? That's a lie.
wryter2000
(46,035 posts)Still, your point is correct. I can't imagine any poll worker cares to see how wryter2000 voted. Or if they did, they'd get pretty sick of looking after a few ballots.

(7,808 posts)that reason did not put the person into.
Barr has made a practice of believing 5 impossible things before breakfast every day for decades. He's way beyond such an amateur level as this.

(18,402 posts)Signatures are checked against the signature on file when you registered to vote. For some people it was this year or last, for others it was 60 years ago. Signatures change. Names change (you should already have made those name changes with your Board of Elections).
Others might be disqualified because the signature name doesnt match the file name exactly (that stinks, but its up to the individual or group checking). So if you registered to vote as Rufus Theodore Firefly and sign your envelope as Rufus T. Firefly or Rufe Firefly, theres an outside chance your ballot could be rejected. Check your voter ID card or your state or local election website to see how your name is registered. And sign it that way! And remember to sign your signature, not print or something fancy. The way you may have done it then or normally do it. *
As for dogs voting fraudulently, that would be a pretty good trick. The dog would have had to submit ID and several other identification documents (gas bill, rent receipt with name on it, etc) to register in the first place.
* This is not as much of an issue when you are voting in person, because even though you have to sign the registered voter book, its just a single election volunteer checking (unless theres a problem), and you can show ID if necessary.

(46,035 posts)I've always signed my name the same way, but it's worth checking. I have checked to see that my registration is valid.

(30,613 posts)I'm a bit anxious about this.
I need to practice and get a little better at it.
I know the template here is my driver's license signature.

(18,402 posts)I sign a bit differently depending on the space available. Sometimes put the cap on the capital J, sometimes not. Its never a problem when Ive voted in person, but who knows with a mail-in ballot?
