Interesting that more people self identified as Repub in sample. Realize some people could be Repub but registered as unaffiliated.

(10,811 posts)3. In NC the ability to vote in either primary makes it possible for
unaffiliated to pop up in either party. I've met a number of unaffiliated Democratic voters in Pitt County, myself included. We always vote for Democrats in general elections of course, but for a long time we remained unaffiliated so we could cast a vote for Walter Jones in Republican primaries against much worse Republican candidates, and Jones delivered for us often. Now that he has passed though, I will change my affiliation from unaffiliated to Democratic Party. I'm going to wait until after the election though, because I didn't want to mess with my registration in any way before the election.
