Joe Rogan falsely blamed forest fires in Oregon on 'left-wing' activists

The podcast host Joe Rogan recently echoed a debunked claim that "left-wing" activists had been arrested on suspicion of setting forest fires in Oregon.

"They've arrested people for lighting forest fires up there," Rogan said on the latest episode of "The Joe Rogan Experience" while talking about Portland, Oregon. "They've arrested left-wing people for lighting these forest fires, air-quote 'activists.' This is also something that's not being widely reported, you know, that people have actually been arrested for lighting fires up there."

A clip of Rogan's claims was posted on Twitter by the user @AlexPattyy.

Authorities and fact-checkers have repeatedly debunked the idea that left-wing activists, such as members of the loose-knit antifa movement, have been intentionally setting forest fires.

...I don't care for this guy. It seems like he has an agenda.

At the very least he doesn't always do his homework.

Also, he seems rather impressed with himself...

Yes arsons get in on the fire action when something like this goes down, always happens and will in the future but for this creep to be assigning political position is pulling it out of his ass. One man hadn't even lit anything, a woman pulled a gun on him cause he had matches and police took him away, but we know nothing. Both were in their 40's.

Wasn't he the host of that fucking stupid Fear Factor show?! It sickens me that he has the number 1 podcast in the country, possibly world. No wonder we have dipshit for a president. We are a stupid group of people in this country.

This asshole has the biggest following of anyone with a podcast. What a sad commentary on our society.

He said it while people were listening.
A post on Instagram doesn't seem a complete retraction or apology.

On edit:

Googling "rogan retraction" (without the quotes)turns up quite a few results (CNN, Newsweek, etc.).

I did enjoy his two interviews with astronomer Brian Cox. Rogan gets humble when his mind gets blown.

I have no familiarity with 95% of the people he interviews.

Ultimately, he is a total ass.
