Republican Marsha Blackburn reveals she doesn't know what an 'Amendment' is -- on Constitution Day

Published 22 hours ago on September 17, 2020

By Sarah K. Burris- Commentary

It’s Constitution Day in America, which is generally the day in which politicians try to prove their immense knowledge and appreciation for the U.S. founding documents. Occasionally some of them misquote it, instead citing the Declaration of Independence, but Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) took another route.

“We will never rewrite the Constitution of the United States,” she proclaimed proudly on Twitter.

When the Constitution is changed it’s called an Amendment and the founding document is rewritten.

As Justice Stephen Breyer has remarked, the Constitution is a “living constitution” that looks to text, history, precedent, purposes, consequences and current values to interpret any text that may have been vague, The Olympian recalled in 2011.

I know this is a day old, but this person is making over $187,500 a year on the taxpayers dime .......................

I'm so goddamned sick and tired of these willfully ignorant know-nothings. She has no business being in government. None of them do. Arrgh.

Truly truly terrible. She rose to prominence through an extremely gerrymandered district and won her Senate bid because, frankly, she sells herself as an evangelical republican and people are too dumb or lazy to look further than that. She is a full on Trumper and has the same types of suspicions connections to RW groups in Europe that Donnie has.

Sadly, I live in her state. She is reprehensible in every way. Believe me, I know plenty of Tennesseans who think she is a complete idiot. Unfortunately, Tennessee is a very red state. There are plenty of idiots who live here and they more than likely think she is a “fine Christian woman,” and they were more than happy to vote for the cretin.

I can’t even stand to look at her.

I apologize on behalf of my state.
