Seriously-Calm the fuck down!!-There is zero time to do this before election!!

There will be no senate hearings even on this before the election. There is simply no time. Average confirmation time is around 60 days at best! These senators also want to be campaigning in an election year not stuck in DC on Halloween! Also, do you seriously think Toad will nominate someone next week and McConnell get him approved the week after? Not. Gonna. Happen. Do you seriously think Ernst, Romney, Tillis and Collins will allow a power grab?? Smarten up!

Now, more importantly, RIP to RBG, one of the best SCOTUS appointees ever and a marvellous human being!

Precedent went out the window when Trump was elected. That should be blatantly obvious by now.

McConnell is on the record stating that he would push a nominee through in this very situation.

They can vote to end them almost whenever they want. The senate works off of a combination of decency and power. Power is more powerful than decency.

They have until January. If you think McConnell won't drop everything to ram through a judge, you're about the only one who believes so.

Trump announced a list last week. He knew this was probably coming. I pretty much guarantee they're set and ready to go, sadly.

This is what the gop has dreamed about for the last 50 years, a clear majority. Getting to 6-3 is more important to them than keeping the senate, or trump staying in power. This is the end all for them. They will make it happen, hell or high water.

Packing the courts was the long game. There is zero chance they will pass on that opportunity even if it means losing the Senate. At this point, they probably think it's already lost anyway so they have nothing to lose.

She was a no on Kavanaugh and I figured she might take a stand here, as well. I'm glad to see she has.

Collins is probably toast anyway and will likely follow the party line. If she couldn't even vote no on Frat Boy, she won't likely have a problem with a less problematic nominee.

That's still sufficient time for them to ram a replacement through. And Trump is still there until January 20, so the date is still January 20 (although the danger will decrease after January 3, depending on who is elected to the senate).

I really grow weary of the “don’t be negative”, “calm down”, “quit whining”, “the polls say Biden is ahead”.

Did these people not live through 2016? Do they not get that Republicans cheat and are going to try anything to appeal to their stupid base? Do they not understand that Trump is desperate? He’s fighting for his life. He’s either going to jail if he loses or Putin will have him killed to keep him from saying something he shouldn’t if he loses.

Why would they not? Politically they may decide it is better to wait until immediately after the election - to fire up their base and depress ours - but there is ZERO chance that Trump will not fill RBG’s seat.

This puts ENORMOUS pressure on Romney, Collins, Murkowski, and any republican senators in a close race, like NC, MT, CO, even GA. Never underestimate the evil of Mitch McConnell, but pushing through a new appointment will not be so easy.

They've waited decades to make that court into a true rubber stamp for their heinous agenda. If they had someone in there by 10/1, I'd not be a bit surprised. If Dotard gets slammed in this election, they're going to want a court that will make sure he stays in.
