...but, if Trump and McConnell force through a new Justice before Election Day (or even immediately thereafter), they'll have Alito, Thomas, Gorsuch, Thomas, and the new nominee. A majority of five hard-line ultraconservative ideologues, several of whom are already firm backers of the "unitary executive" doctrine giving the sitting president full authority (when it's a Republican, of course). They wouldn't even need Roberts to prevail.

If Biden is elected and accepted, we might be able to avoid a repeat of Lincoln's term. When I was growing up, I never would have thought I'd see this country so divided and so ready to split up, all over a bunch of made-up bullshit.
