Nominating a justice may actually hurt Trump politically in the election.

Once the nominee is announced, there will be no further use for him. The right would have gotten its tax cuts and its SCOTUS. They won't need him any more for anything else.

It may be wiser politically for him to withhold the nominee until after the election to fire up his base even more and possibly sway wobbly Republicans back to him. Use it as a motivating factor.

have enough. And the right wing authoritarian personalities who vote for them are also not satisfied with anything less than total elimination of different opinions. So, imo, they won't give up on Trump merely because their short term advantage has been realized.

The local radio wingnuts say it endlessly, that even if SHITLER's demeanor and violation of religion is not to their liking, they support him for the wingnut judges his string-pullers give him.

The real test will be to see if the GrOPpers realize they already had a SCOTUS majority even with RBG and try to play nice and benevolent as a hollow gesture of so-called bi-partisan spirit to help save themselves in 2020.
