Lots of talk over the last few months that Thomas was wanting to step down and retire.
I know it's improper to nudge a Justice off the court, but maybe Thomas does decide he's retiring.
Now Trump has two seats to fill and in an amazing show of bipartisanship, Trump pulls a Jed Bartlet and nominates both a conservative and liberal justice.
Not going to happen in a million years but not going to lie, it would be amazing optics for his reelection campaign.
It also would fail in the Senate, I'm sure, but it could position him to win reelection...where if they hold onto the senate, he could then pull the nomination of the liberal justice, since it failed, and nominate a conservative.
Eke.

(16,646 posts)West Wing was often called a liberal fantasy, despite Bartlette often playing liberals off of the right wing. None the less, non president would make such a deal. At the worst he'd nominate the most "liberal" judge the right couldn't oppose, and the most liberal period.

(57,081 posts)over a Supreme Court nominee? He's got a solid group who will vote for him, some might fall away and not vote but Joe AR-15 will never vote for Joe Biden. Trump can't pull anymore, but we can. We gotta.
