...within their ranks.

Of course, I'll believe it when I see it, given that Republicans as a whole are pretty much power hungry with no sense of morals whatsoever, but this isn't a letter you send out if you are 100% positive that you will be able to ram through a nomination easily.

So now, what he said in 2016 really wasn't what he said. Despicable but not surprising.

This is the opportunity of a lifetime and there is zero chance these assholes will pass it up. Zero chance.

It's a done deal.

We have to win first, which is far from guaranteed in the senate and this court will have much time to do massive harm before that will be implemented. Even if we win, which isn't a guaranteed situation by any means. There will be damaged done before change could even in a best case scenario be made. None of this is easy, were literally in Hail Mary land now.

I'm an optimist, even I see this as a doomsday scenario.

We are dealing with a deeply dark possible reality right now.

11. The single best thing we can do is focus on close/vulnerable seats and steal his majority.

He's sadly not at much risk at this point.

He's in a Trump loving, brain dead state and they're both likely to hold an easy victory there. We need to focus elsewhere.

There seems to be something missing. I'm not seeing the beginning or the transition to the next page.

If your posting, please post the ENTIRE statement.

...adding all sorts of provisions so he can weasel out of what he said in 2016.

IIRC, what Joe suggested (no "rule" because it was never acted upon) was a pause button: suspend SC nominee hearings during the hot zone of campaign season (~July-November). That's all.

and energize the others who know this is totally wrong. It's wrong, but alas republicans can only keep power by cheating and stealing and suppression and gerrymandering and lying. These so called "Christians" are evil.

His lies are starting to take on Trumpian proportions. I guess when your head has been stuck up someone's ass for so long you start taking on the characteristics of that person. Is there a single republican who has an iota of integrity remaining? Not that I've seen in the past eight years.

20. McTurtle is not an idiot. There are two possible reasons for sending this out
Sat Sep 19, 2020, 05:25 AM
Sep 2020

One: he wants to address his fellow Republicans
Two: he wants to put us off our guard

Under scenario one, he is trying to get the couple of wavering (on the surface, anyway) Republicans to tow the line when he tries to choose yet another unqualified extremist Republican for the Supreme Court and jam the nomination through before Democrats can do anything about it.

Under scenario two, he has ALREADY done all of the above mentioned in scenario one, but wants us to think he's nervous, and to lull us into a false sense of security, into not being on full red (so to speak) alert and ready to retaliate at the first hint of his taking action. "Concern" from people like Murkowski or any other Republican Senators may be genuine, or it may be to reassure Democrats that they need not go to DefCon One just yet.

Obviously, YES WE DO need to go to DefCon One, because anyone who thinks McTurtle is not ready to charge with all guns blazing has not studied him closely. My guess is that that McTurtle fully intends to try to ram another Kavanaugh into Ginsburg's seat before Halloween. I, for one, would expect nothing less from him, and I am one who wouldn't mind seeing him with an involuntary one-way coach class seat on the next Mars probe, or strapped to the outside surface of Kim Jong Un's next nuclear testing device.
