I predict a "gang of moderates" deal after the election - no SCt vote for keeping fillibuster

In the lame duck period after the election, I can easily see Lindsey Graham (who won't have to worry about re-election), Romney, Grassley, Murkowski and Collins agreeing with Manchin, Sinema and a few other Dems who have come out against getting rid of the fillibuster in the past that the Republicans will vote against the Supreme Court nominee, and the Dems agreeing in exchange that they won't get rid of the fillibuster.

Anyone agree/disagree?

I do not view that as good outcome. People forgetting the fact conservatives have 5-4 majority now. What difference does 6-3 make? Roberts will always vote on their side on the big stuff.

Moderation crap needs to end. GOP would love to do "moderation" on their way out. If they lose power Dems should get rid filibuster and remake the courts.

8. It would make a difference. Roberts is far from perfect...

There are certainly things he cannot be trusted on (e.g. voting rights) but he also saved the ACA and I believe he would not overturn Roe (he is fundamentally a cautious jurist). He is also sensitive to his legacy. You can be sure an RBG replacement would be more in the mold of Thomas/Alito. It would have dire consequences. Make no mistake.
