Why are donations a big deal?

Seriously, I see these posts about the Democrats have raised this amount of money since last night....but what does that really mean....Hell, hasn’t McGrath raised a bunch of money, but is still trailing McConnell, so what does this money really accomplish?

There are a lot of other close races that we can win to take back the senate. That’s how the donations are a HUGE help. They can also pay for lawyers observers and everything else we are going to need.

First, they pay for things that campaigns need.

Second, they signify to Democratic candidates that what they are doing is working, or what they stand for is worth giving money to. That's significant in ordinary times, but during a pandemic, it's even more so.

Third, they drive the media narrative.

Citing one of the only races in the country where the Democrat has a lot of cash but will probably lose, in a blood-red state no less, isn't really helpful.
