If you put one of those stickers on a mailbox, what does the USPS do? What are the consequences?

9. It's NOT illegal under federal law.

As long as you are not harming the mail inside, the only thing they can throw at you is a state or local graffiti type ordinance.

For federal law, this is the standard: 18 USC 1706 -
“ Whoever willfully or maliciously injures, tears down or destroys any letter box or other receptacle intended or used for the receipt or delivery of mail on any mail route, or breaks open the same or willfully or maliciously injures, defaces or destroys any mail deposited therein, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.”


I do not see writing on the outside to be anywhere close to that. If I were the judge, I’d throw that out in a heartbeat.

Besides, all you need is one juror on your side. I hope to hell I get picked to be on that jury.
