I got pooh-poohed a couple posts ago, but

...it looks like I'm not the only one who thinks it's unlikely the Dems will do anything to stop Trump from filling the SC vacancy.

GOP Laughs at Dems’ Scorched Earth Threats as Supreme Court Battle Begins

<<snip>>

But if Democrats aimed to present an aggressive posture heading into what’s expected to be a brutal confirmation fight, Trump’s political orbit reacted with chuckles and yawns to the ratcheted-up rhetoric on court-packing.

Six sources across Trumpworld—administration officials, campaign aides, and others close to the White House and the president—told The Daily Beast they weren’t worried about such a threat, even in a scenario in which Democrats were to take back the White House and Senate and hold onto the House. Some said such a proposal would inevitably backfire and become politically advantageous for conservatives. Others weren’t even sure if Democrats would have the internal support or, ultimately, the guts to actually pull the trigger on packing the court.

<<snip>>

Indeed, there’s likely to be substantial opposition to the court-packing idea within the Democratic caucus if they ever get the chance to do it. In any Democratic Senate majority, a handful of moderates are likely to have the greatest sway on key votes—and they’re unlikely to ever get on board with the idea.

It's not in the best interest of the Ds to go hog wild at this stage. Joe and Kamala and the entire D congress can diss the move and the hypocrisy of the "Amended McConnell Rule" and let vulnerable Rs (like Collins and Murkowski, and hopefully 2 others do the work for them).

When the D's get back the White House and the Senate, and expand the House, then all the cards are ours. No need to lay our cards on the table yet. Just scream hypocrisy etc, and there is a good chance this won't go anywhere.

Even if it does, the Ds play their cards after the election. Including impeachment investigations for Trump's judicial nominees that had no real investigations, keeping in mind that lying during the confirmation process may amount to perjury. Adding seats to SCOTUS is merely an additional option to pay back for 2 seats (Merrick Garland and RBG).

I had a good laugh - and you know we all need lots of laughs these days.

One positive note today - our Southern Oregon skies are clear of smoke!

Maybe a medically induced coma. When I wake up in Jan. I will decide whether I want to continue. The drama continues to come too hot and heavy to process. Be assured, I will mail a ballot before I go down.

I've accepted the loss of this seat.

I'm more focused on how we respond when we win and we take power.
