Trump: 'We're Counting' On Federal Courts To Declare Election Night Winner

Trump’s push to have the election called on Nov. 3 would disregard multiple states’ rules that allow ballots to be counted after election night.

President Donald Trump said he is “counting on the federal court system” to ensure that the winner of the November presidential election is called just hours after the polls close, despite current rules across the country allowing ballots to be counted several days to weeks after the election.

“Now we’re counting on the federal court system to make it so that we can actually have an evening where we know who wins. Not where the votes are going to be counted a week later or two weeks later,” he said at a rally in North Carolina Saturday.

On the topic of the judicial system, Trump also shared his plans to nominate a new Supreme Court associate justice “next week” to fill Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s seat following her death on Friday.

There are fewer than 45 days until the Nov. 3 election, and it has taken about 68 days historically for a Supreme Court nominee to win confirmation in a vote on the Senate floor.

Yes, actually there was a basis, and yes as others have pointed out 2000 was a fluke Thekaspervote Sep 2020 #8

He may have been content to let each state battle covid on its own but I'd bet he has no clue that each state gets to make its own rules around elections and when ballots have to be counted.

He's setting up the con to steal the election if he can. I doubt he will be able to pull it off. Biden has been putting together an army of lawyers to plan for any situation that may arise.

There was absolutely no basis for the federal judiciary to interfere with a state’s decision to hold a recount…until the SCOTUS declared there was.

It was an appeal from a decision of the Florida supreme court, which had decided the case first. If Trump intends to challenge elections in every state he'll have to go through all those state supreme courts too, and there would be different factual situations in each one.

SCOTUS was asked to declare whether ballots with “hanging chads” were legal. It was decided the intention of the voter could not be determined.

Dotard has no legal recourse to stop the voting. If he did... why not do it now?
