McConnell unexpectedly rejects Democrats' funding bill,

leaving U.S. on the verge of government shutdown - September 21, 2020

https://news.yahoo.com/mcconnell-unexpectedly-rejects-democrats-funding-174800884.html

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) rejected the government funding resolution House Democrats introduced Monday, leaving the U.S. government on the verge of a shutdown.

The current government funding package only lasts another nine days, so on Monday, Democrats released a draft resolution that would extend in through Dec. 11. But McConnell alleged the Democrats' proposal "shamefully leaves out key relief and support" for farmers via Commodity Credit Corp. funding — though CNN reports the Trump administration views those funds as "an unaccountable political slush fund."

Senior Dem aide says the Trump admin views the CCC funds as "an unaccountable political slush fund."

McConnell makes clear Rs want it in any CR.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Sunday rejected the idea that she'd use the spending bill as leverage to stop Senate Republicans from filling Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg's Supreme Court seat. "None of us has any interest in shutting down government, that has such a harmful and shameful impact on so many people in our country," she said, adding that "we have arrows in our quiver."

Democrats have done their duty concerning the budget bill. But alas, he never cared, all of this is backfiring and the American people majority is sick and tired of these assholes.

How many fucking times has he done this in the past fifteen years? I think it's been like eight or ten times.

I believe that if he does take up the funding bill other issues, ie open seat would be pushed to the side because the funding bill takes priority. So you see, the open seat is more important than keeping the government running.

would be in play and push the narrative that's its democratic fault. Can see this coming a month ago. Now how can we flip this around as another anchor around their neck?

"Senior Dem aide says the Trump admin views the CCC funds as "an unaccountable political slush fund."

Seems like trump cares more about the money he can get his hands, and doesn't give a damn about anything else.

Shutting down the government would also shut down confirming trumps nominee, wouldn't it?

Everyone but the most hard core MAGATs will understand that any shutdown is owned by TraitorTot and Moscow Mitch.

Or does he think he can use the threat of a shutdown to get Dems to go along with the hypocrisy with regard to the SCOTUS seat?

Or is he simply drunk with power and imagining he's king?

in the "CCC funds" he wants to get his hands on. One thing he wants more than anything else is "more" money!

What I can't get is if shutting down the government will stop his pick for the Supreme Court from being confirmed, how does that help?

Shut it down. Yes many people will be harmed, some will die, but if I had told you a year ago that 200k would die due to Repuke mismanagement the majority would have called me crazy.

Don't shut it down now, it could be 2 million next time.

All Dems must hit the streets and airwaves, scream at the top of our lungs, that Repukes have no interest in doing what is best for the American people, in fact they seem to be more interested in doing what is best for Putin. An acceptable deal was provided and the Repukes are once again playing politics, those days are over. Go out and vote them out, or if you prefer to live in the embarrassment of a Country they have created, then vote for them.

We are at a no lose point, if the Repukes aren't crushed then the Country is already toast. If they are crushed, then every year, month and day, they will need to be crushed again.

And tell McConnell that's the final offer.

And then start running ads that Trump and McConnell own the shut down.
