The US framers never envisioned a madman grabbing the levers of power accrued by a foolishly elevated 'imperial presidency' whilst concurrently having tribal hyper-factionalism ensuring that the Constitutional threshold for removal could not be reached.
If Trump somehow does pull off the theft, and if the Rethugs also maintain Senatorial control for the next 4 years, then I will be surprised if the Constructional Republic maintained by a union of the States lasts intact until its 250th anniversary in 2039. Breyer may well go in the next 4 years, plus Sotomayor is not at all a healthy, robust woman (chronic severe Type-1 diabetes that has required multiple hospitalisations and/or immediate medical attention in the past). A 9-1 radical RW SCOTUS (plus an even more RW-tilting and stacked lower Federal court system than already exists) spells doom for the avoidance of a christofascist Gilead-style federal government. If they try to nationalise the tyranny, roll back all civil rights gained post-Brown v Board (including Brown itself), the Blue states will start secession movements if federal troops/officers are sent forth to force compliance.
