having been the parent of a teenager I can only say you can only hope that they don't do something truly stupid. So I don't excuse the kid (not at all), but until I know that the parent activity encouraged the activity, not holding them responsible.

But the OP does somewhat question if there will be, umm, you know, any sort of punishment because the little shit's dad is a cop.

But I guess more to the point I do not subscribe that teenagers get away with lawlessness just because they are wild children that cannot be tamed. I fully expect my kids to make mistakes and do stupid things but lawlessness? Sorry no.

We have jobs as parents. Yea my kid has a LOT of friends.

Instill in them right and wrong and if they don’t learn then let the law teach them. It helps that we have a strong legal presence in our family. A family of lawyers.

and being one myself once, I can say with complete authority that parents do not rule them. Nor did the OP suggest that. It is up to the parent to do something when their kid does wrong. The kid stole other people's property. This parent being in the unique position of being a cop. Is he going to ignore it or will he treat this kid the same as he would a kid caught stealing trump signs?

Marysville(OH) PD responds......

Tweet texts:
OhioUnionCountyDems @OhioUnionCoDems

Local cop's son shows off the Biden signs he and his friends stole, then tags the accomplices on his Instagram post.

Because, y'know... Law & Order.

Hey @MarysvilleOHPD. You know where he lives. When can we pick up our signs?

Marysville(OH) PD @marysvilleohPD

The recent incidents of campaign sign thefts are under investigation by a Detective from our Investigations Bureau. We will share more information when it is available.

“We will *totally* investigate the son of one of our officers. You can bet he’ll get a stern talking-to, a finger-wag, and possibly a resigned sigh. (Followed by a cheeky wink, lulz. Boys’ll be boys, amirite?”

On that PD twitter thread, there's an almost universal call for proper justice for these crimes although many express doubts on the final outcome.
