The Red States are very aware the Blue States pay the freight in taxes. They are not going to trade Arkansas for California.

Via the 10th amendment, all powers not specifically mentioned in the Constitution are reserved for the states and local governments.

Would there be court challenges to secession referenda? You betcha.

But the core truth remains there is NO language in the Constitution forbidding it. The founding fathers did not include it, so by inference they meant it to be available to the states.
