The WH--through AG Secretary Sonny Perdue-- forced CDC Director Redfield to retract the field report already delivered to SD Dept. of Health. This was political manipulation plain and clear. NOT the fault of these CDC Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) Officers. NOT AT ALL! They did their job.

Put the blame squarely where it belongs--Donald Trump and all his politically=appointed enabling murderous assholes.

I made it very very very clear, where the blame must be directed. Not on the rank and file highly trained career professionals. Shame on those not making a distinction!!!! Yes, it pisses me off. This is DU. DUers should know better. And yes, the OP saying "CDC KILLING MEAT INSPECTORS" is shameful.

No better than the RW calling all career professionals at ALL of the Federal Agencies "Deep State."

Some past Directors of CDC truly WERE CDC. EIther they came up through the ranks, or had worked closely and collaboratively with CDC for decades, understood the agency and worked to PROTECT IT and to fulfill its mission. None of the previous applies to Redfield. He was a theocratic thorn in CDC's side because of his outside agitation to exclude and in fact, harm LGBTQ with international AIDs campaigns

To me, the bigger question is WHY? Equally with Birx and Fauci. Why are career scientists willing to throw away their oath to protect human life for the despicable likes of trump? You can not tell me that it is logical that ALL three are picking their job over the welfare of 330mm humans?

That makes zero sense. What is trump holding over all these people? More than a job.

Wiki
Robert Ray Redfield Jr. (born July 10, 1951) is an American virologist. He is the current Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the current Administrator of the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry, having served in both positions since March 2018.

It isn't normal to have such low self esteem, self respect and morals so suddenly. They weren't always like this...what got to them to bring about this quick change?

I have left two jobs where I didn't approve of what my employers did. It was an easy decision for both and was glad I did it. What's the big deal of leaving your job if the boss or company is terrible?

Sure, I can see how killing hundreds of thousands vs. being fired or resigning from Team tRump is a really tough choice since both options are equally bad.

is to consistently demean and denigrate every single person who publicly disagrees with him. If you see this happen dozens upon dozens of times, you realize 1) you will be flamed and 2) it won't do any good ? Add in seeing that the news is so prone to flipping from a huge story to the next new balloon that Trump launches, you know if you speak up, or quit, you'll get maybe 8 hrs of coverage at most? Plus trump not holding proper press conferences he doesn't have to really explain. Jeez remember that, when there was a fear in a politician of what people would say?

So you stay, thinking maybe you might be able to affect something?

Have you ever seen Dr Peter Hotez on CNN ? He said months ago that the ONLY way things will get better is if somehow the CDC is pulled out of the political world and made independent. He didn't know how it could be done.

It has all become so overwhelming. Like much too giant a snowball to stop now.

The buck for the CDC stops with him. He represents the CDC to the public, and if he had integrity, he could not be "forced". He could have resigned. Nobody is blaming the rank and file at all. I'm not sure why you think people are blaming the professionals who wrote the report.

My statement accused Redfield, and no one else. But through his actions, and only by his actions, he has destroyed the integrity of the CDC in the eyes of the world.

The OP subject line states "CDC KILLING MEAT INSPECTORS." That is despicable! CDC staff did everything they could to protect them.

Trump administration obstructs CDC efforts to PROTECT MEATWORKERS
NOW THAT IS THE TRUTH and should have been the subject line.

The Times of Israel blew the whistle on that a couple of months ago - but U.S. media has (of course) been reluctant to pick it up.

*I also can't believe that tRump risked mussing his hair-don't by wearing a yamaka. He wouldn't go out in the rain to visit the cemetery in France to commemorate WW2, but Bibi is special to him I guess. Sorry Macron, you don't cut it.

Just to clarify, my husband is one of the least chauvinistic, kindest, most emotionally generous men around, but in addition to everything else, we've got a very upsetting extended family situation happening right now, and I have been doing a ridiculous amount of loudly raging against it all.
