Financial reporter guy on MSNBC just now says, paraphrased, we may not know for weeks!

Talking about the election outcome. Come on, jesus christ, it is NOT going to take more than, what, 4 weeks at the very worst ? Is it California that takes up to 4 weeks to certify the official vote, because of absentees ? My apologies if I got that totally wrong.

We don't need any hysteria and disinformation about the vote. We are so f*******g spoiled to get these projections on Election Night, but this year, to me, there is NO way to accurately state that because of the mail-in votes.

The media needs to be responsible about this. Trump damn sure won't be, we all know that.

Rant over.

eta: I forget where the "4 weeks" info about California came from, but it was some election in the last few years. Again, sorry if I got that totally wrong.

eta2:
When is the last day to return my voted vote-by-mail ballot?

Vote-by-mail ballots that are personally delivered must be delivered no later than the close of polls at 8:00 p.m. on Election Day. Vote-by-mail ballots that are mailed must be postmarked on or before Election Day and received by your county elections office no later than 17 days after Election Day. If you are not sure your vote-by-mail ballot will arrive in time if mailed, take it to your county elections officeon or before Election Day or to any polling place in your county between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Election Day.

eta3:
No later than the 38th day after the election, the Secretary of State must determine the votes cast for candidates for state and federal office and for the statewide ballot measures, certify those results, and issue certificates of nomination/election to those candidates who were nominated/elected.

Why does it take so long to get election results in California?

snip

“We prioritize the right to vote and election security over rushing the vote count,” Secretary of State Alex Padilla said in a Feb. 27 statement. “In California, we’d rather get it right than get it fast.”

How long a wait are we talking about?

County election officials have 30 days to count all ballots and audit the tally. Padilla will then certify the results by April 10.

By the end of this week, elections officials in California’s 58 counties will release their first report of how many ballots remain uncounted. After the 2016 primary, the first report showed some 2.4 million ballots left to be verified and counted.

Much more at that article but can only quote 4 paragraphs

7. How can you say that with an unprecedented number of absentee ballots

Some states weren’t able to finish in several weeks to count the primary, how does that forebode for the general.
