Got my absentee ballot from Dallas yesterday

One new wrinkle: as usual, there was a ballot, a white anonymous envelope to seal the ballot in, and then the addressed tan envelope in which we place the white envelope. The tan envelope is what we send to the States, and it has a label on it. The While envelope containing the ballot usually fits right inside the larger tan envelope. Only........

THIS time, the tan mailing envelope was only HALF THE SIZE of the white envelope that is supposed to fit inside it. Thus, I had to fold the white envelope with the ballot in half in order for it to fit inside the official mailing envelope.

Now, there is no text anywhere saying we can't fold the white envelop with the ballot, but nor do we have any assurance that some Republican official isn't going to arbitrarily start disqualifying ballots that arrive that way. I am going to call over there later on when Texas is open, and make sure I don't need to do this again.

1. This is why I'm early voting in person. I think I'd screw up some stupid mail in rule I would

call twice and see if you get two different answers. I wouldn't be surprised.

This would be a radical departure if not, and the people are the same. I wonder if the top election officials are even aware of this.

I suppose we'll get our in a day or so. It'll be interesting to see if we get the same kind of envelope you got. Maybe yours has something to do with international mail.

This is the first time ever that the white envelope with the ballot was smaller than the tan official envelope it is supposed to be mailed in. If they say folding it so it fit is OK, then all is well. If not, it's like saying you have to fly to an airport, but you have to do it in your car.

5. I just talked to the voting office in Dallas

The woman I talked to started giggling when I asked if the small envelope was intentional. I must have been the 4357th person to call and ask about that today. Apparently everyone got the same envelope, and it was fine if I had to fold my white envelope in order to fit it inside the tan envelope. No one told the elections office, either, so they had to check and make sure it was correct. That was the easy part. Answering 25,000 calls about it was probably less fun.
