We mailed our ballots at the post office yesterday around noon. They go to the next town over. Checked the voter portal just now and it says they were received yesterday!

(7,715 posts)Most USPS personnel are fine people except a toady like DeJoy. However, DeJoy commands the USPS so he is chiefly responsible for what could have happened. I am hoping we have averted it because he was exposed to sunlight and therefore disinfected.
We must cause "good trouble" the moment we see an issue, as our beloved John Lewis said (and did in real life).
We have to fight for every inch of ground now. Do not let up for one second.
Can you track if your ballot was accepted and your vote counts?

(83,726 posts)My link was Track your vote MA. Not the exact wording. I have it written down. I dropped my ballot at the town hall on a Friday, checked on Saturday and it was accepted. This was for our state primaries a few weeks ago. Senator Markey won!
People have listed specific links for other states.

(38,958 posts)There is a ballot measure or two that I want to be sure about before filling out the ballot.

(58,634 posts)I should be able to get them to the drop box by the 20th. Not sure about local offices and possible state initiatives, so it will take a couple of days. But we do VBM here full time.
If they flip my state, you will know they're cheating. WA.

(7,263 posts)Before that, since June, it was spotty, many days we got nothing at all, and packages ran days if not weeks late.
Immediately noticed the difference.
BTW I am in the Pittsburgh area.

(3,321 posts)Unfortunately, this result may not be uniform across the country. My absentee ballot was received one day after it was mailed (we can track our ballots in Minnesota). My wife received her ballot three days later. We live at the same address and requested our ballots on the same day. To me, that seems a bit odd.

(86,515 posts)I was at the county seat today so I stopped in at the registrar's office to confirm my status. Took as long as it takes to spell my name and say my address.
I will have a mail-in ballot coming and I will be turning it in at the registrar's office.

(86,515 posts)voting by mail in this state before and don't expect any issues here this time. I know the folks in the office personally, one I've known for over ten years, we lived in the same town before in another county.

(32 posts)So. Short story.
Looks like sorters back in place in CLE
We have now been receiving machine sorted mail
How do I know?
Obv a machine ate part of mail.
The mail that was mauled- usually comes in 8 x 5 envelope. It was shredded. Only 6x4 existed.
Is this ok???
(And dont get me started on govt mail received with pre-date on it...started in early August).

(21,738 posts)That way we could send these "priority" mail pieces directly to the County Clerk's office and bypass the Mail Processing Plants and the sorting machines.
We would put them on the next truck going directly to the County Seat.
Oh, I am an ex Postal Worker.

(2,472 posts)Worked in a big sorting center with a mean, horrible boss and lasted until I had about a week and a half left before I just couldn't stand it one more minute and quit. I've regretted that move a million times since then.
I figured that they had to have picked them out and sent them directly to the government center because they got there the same day. The people at our post office are great. One time when I was taking care of my dad, who was terminally ill at the time, I was doing his errands, one of which was to mail a big envelope. I went to the outside boxes at the post office and dropped his envelope in, only to discover when I got home that I still had that envelope, but the envelope of his pictures I'd picked up at the Walgreens by the post office was missing. Somehow I threw the pictures into the mailbox instead of whatever it was that I was supposed to mail. I called them, they asked which box, and they had the pictures waiting for me when I got there ten minutes later.

(21,738 posts)I started part-time, hoping to make enough to go back to school, but then they offered me a full time job with all the bennies and I ended up staying.
I can't speak of the big sorting centers, but I worked in a lot of smaller offices, and the people really are great.

(14,565 posts)Everything sent to me USPS from California and particularly Los Angeles area has ridiculous delays. Obscene delays. There are many House races in California we took away in 2018 by narrow margin. But it requires huge national tilt again to hold those seats.
As soon as I saw the national map of all the removed USPS machines it was obvious the GOP had targeted House districts in California. But it was mostly ignored due to fixation on presidential only. If ballots aren't mailed back early enough in those pivotal races there could be some self-inflicted upset defeats. The GOP knows darn well it has far greater opportunity to reclaim the House in 2022 if some of the California districts are peeled away this time.
None of that USPS crap was accidental. There need to be warnings about this in California.
