By a mix of liberal and conservative judges. I know it's en vogue to think that, just because he's going to appoint the next justice, it means the SCOTUS is just blindly going to follow his made up rules ... but the reality is that, at every turn, Trump has been owned by the courts this election season. Until proven otherwise, I am going to fully expect any lawsuit he presents will likewise be dismissed.

I do not believe for a moment that John Roberts is going to allow The Roberts Court to be dragged down into the Trump sewer.
One thing I think we can all agree on, regardless of how one feels about his legal philosophy, John Roberts has a thing about dignity.

(34,857 posts)I actually am not worried about the Supreme Court here - their ruling in Florida was, whether you liked it or not, at least somewhat understandable from a very thin interpretation of the letter of the law. Plus, ultimately, their ruling was essentially a punt. I see nothing from this court to believe they'd just throw out millions and millions of mail-in ballots to placate Trump.

(92,131 posts)if he loses, on the basis that it is "rigged" because of the mail-in voting.
There is not evidence to support that, and I doubt the SC would rule in his favor on that
What worries people is coming out of his administration is a strategy that if he loses in key swing states, he will place electors to defy the electoral college to over ride the vote.
Not only would that create a Constitutional Crisis, but I believe it might invoke a Civil War
I don't think any attempt to "bypass" the will of the voters would work, but that is why some are concerned, because he is totally unhinged

(34,857 posts)And unfortunately, liberals, especially the left-leaning media, are so good at being played by Trump. They took the bait. Notice no one is talking about his polling? How, in two polls today, he was down ten-points nationally? No one is talking about how weak he is for an incumbent - instead, the focus is on this strongman persona where he's going to bully his way to a second term no matter what. He wants people to fear him because he thinks intimidation works. He believes he can scare Democrats into passiveness.
Unfortunately, he might be right. It's sad to say but liberals are not smart enough to avoid his trap. So, now you've got articles saying Trump is going to steal the election and there's nothing we can do about it.
Great message to send! Who wants to get jazzed about voting when they're constantly being told their vote won't matter in the end because he'll just steal the election or manipulate the courts to give it to him?

(29,149 posts)so, yeah, he's going to lose plenty in the legal arena during the "legal challenges" phase of the election.
But as we saw in Bush v. Gore, there's a certain inherent risk when the results of an election are left up to one's chances in court.
All the more reason to donate to Joe's campaign and to the DNC.
