it's analysis based on what the repugs are attempting.
At least, the Supremes said, about Bush v. Gore: 'Bush v. Gore notoriously announced that [o]ur consideration is limited to the present circumstances, a line which some legal academics likened to a ticket good for one day only, or a self-destruct mechanism: after the President was chosen, the case blew up.'

Once I had to turn Rachel off and walk away because my whole chest hurt and I was short of breath. But she was not wrong in her journalism, just intense, and I had hit my personal limit just then.

I know how hysteria is used against women generally but frankly, I felt she was way over the top especially as the Gelman piece is uninformed and she fell right into it.
As for Kavanaugh, he was a disgrace and his entire performance was a sham but the cons really sold it.

I am fighting this shit!!!!! I am no pollyanna, I am a realist. I will not be whining, I will be fighting as an activist for our democracy. We all should.

(2,227 posts)A different cocktail each time. It was a fun, lighthearted end to her show, which (at the time) may have been depressing. She hasn't done it in several years.
NOW every night is depressing.
I didn't watch the show tonight, but can rewind if I want. But if it was about the possibility of republican elector ratfuckery, THEY WILL DO IT IF THEY THINK THEY CAN GET AWAY WITH IT.
We just have to be ready to NOT ACCEPT IT.
They can cheat his way into a second term, but if 60% or more refuse to accept their pathetic, corrupt manipulations, there is not a DAMN thing they can do to make us.
We will FINALLY hit the streets. We will FINALLY have a general strike. We. Will. Bring. This. Country. To. A. Standstill.
And there isn't a damn thing they can do to stop us.

(675 posts)He's a con man and a liar. This is a lie he wants people to believe so we are afraid of him and discouraged from voting. Meanwhile, Republicans are laughing at us for falling for the same old trolls. People need to stop listening to Trump. He is a master bullshitter but that's it. He's not a dictator or a strongman. He isnt going to steal the election or refuse to leave the white house. It's a bluff. He has no power or ability to pull off any of that shit. For the love of god, stop believing what he says!

(35,454 posts)The issues regarding electors came up before the SC not too long ago and this is what they decided.
"And second, the Courts decision reinforces the validity of the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact. Under National Popular Vote, states that combine for at least 270 electoral votes agree to award their electors to the presidential candidate who wins the most individual votes across the nation. (Fifteen states and the District of Columbia, totaling 196 electoral votes, have already passed the measure.)
In the 18 states currently without faithless elector laws, the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact would operate in a manner identical to the system that they have been using for over 200 years. In these states (which currently use the state-by-state winner-take-all method of awarding electoral votes), the presidential electors are chosen by the political party whose presidential candidate receives the most popular votes inside the state, and there are no additional requirements placed upon the elector"
