Living in a rural, red area can create a siege mentality this year

So many Trump signs in yards. So many Trump bumper stickers. I haven't put up any yard signs because I genuinely feel like I'd be painting a target on my family. Pretty sure the next door neighbors have a suspicion to my liberalism, what with the Prius in the driveway. My Trump-loving co-workers, some of whom live down the road, definitely know.

I'm seriously considering keeping my primary rifle loaded and unlocked the closer we get to the election. This is insane.

To put up a Biden sign would be asking for some redneck to vandalize my property. If you judged by the yard signs, flags and banners, Trump is winning by a landslide in my area. I think that the truth may be somewhat different.

I am glad that the right-wingers are identifying themselves. I now know better who to avoid.

I just have to worry that my sign will get stolen, not that me or my family might be harmed. So sad that it's come to this.

Stay safe!

They make it known very loudly in the break room. HR doesn't give a fuck.

All it takes is one of these nuts cracking to pose a danger. My wife is non-white, in a very white community. She's been followed home by the cops, almost certainly due to her skin color, so I don't trust them much either to protect us.

There are a few trump signs and flags out. Generally we don't talk politics when we talk. If politics does come up, I try to change the subject. It's better that way. These folks are my friends and they are good people. I see no reason to discount their entire being just based on their political preference. This election season will be over in a few months. My relationship with these people will last a lifetime.

red county in NC. She and her husb are liberals and I asked once how she deals with it.

She said they maintain acquaintences veering away from anything remotely political, but all their close friends are liberal also. They managed to find their tribe in the middle of the deep red, so it has worked out for them.

But, they are both the activist type and it would be hard to be close with someone who's a Trumper.

them. Others are honest, decent people that just have a fucked up view on some societal issues. A person should not throw away important relationships because people are not perfect, you just keep working on them and hope that the full humanity that exists in them eventually push past their darker impulses.

Biden signs are stolen as soon as they are put up. We have a wonderful group of brave BLM souls, quietly standing
in town every afternoon. They are harassed by the trumpers, who also have no problem showing their manhood,
er weapons.

I haven't put up signs since Obama's second election. I don't feel safe.

had a bumper sticker made a while back "Biden 2020 - He won't inject you with bleach"

However, I put it in the window and not sure I'd leave my car a long time in the street. Mostly I'm in and out quickly (medical appts) and car is garaged, but those fanatics are crazy and exist everywhere. There aren't a lot here, but all it takes is one at the right time and place.

A home on a hugh corner lot a couple of miles down the street always has a 6' x 8' republican sign for every election. Two months ago, a Joni Ernst sign went up. I noticed today it is no longer there.

At a house about 2 blocks from my house, the owner was flying a trump banner on a 2-story flag pole. Then he added a "Biden Works for Iowa" sign that he had changed to "Biden Works for Biden". The anti-Biden sign was there one day. Last week he replaced the trump banner with an ISU banner. Every one of his neighbors has a Biden sign.

I have a cousin that supported Gary Johnson in 2016 but is now supporting Trump, and he drives a Prius. He does a lot of driving and it gets great mileage, of course. So even the deplorables know a bargain when they see it. But, I digress.

I really wanted to post about my neighborhood's sign situation. There are now two house near us sporting large Biden signs/flags. I think people are starting to grow weary of hiding their opposition to Trump. My wife is still hesitant to let me put one up, though.
