All times Pacific, source: Johns Hopkins/NBC News

At 9:33am - domestic data only
Confirmed cases US - 6,971,591 *
Deaths US - 203,271

* I originally thought it'd be Sunday before we hit the seven-million confirmed cases mark. WRONG! We're only 28,409 cases away from that THIS MORNING.

I went through an exercise yesterday to guesstimate when we'd get there...

"Judging just from the comparison with yesterday - where there's a difference of 24,673 between 9:40am yesterday morning and 7:36pm that same evening, what happens if you add 24,673 to the confirmed cases number we saw today (6,938,656)? It took me four rounds of adding 24,673 to get to 7,007,742.

If you assume that particular rate of increase, each day, the seven-million-confirmed-cases result would arrive sometime this coming Sunday."

MAN was I wrong. By that logic, we'll get there maybe as soon as tomorrow evening.

At 9:33am - domestic data only
Confirmed cases US - 6,971,591
Deaths US - 203,271

At 6:42pm
Confirmed cases US - 6,993,045 *
Deaths US - 203,594

* Make that 7-million confirmed cases by tomorrow MORNING. Not tomorrow evening. We're less than seven thousand case away at this point (6,955 cases, to be precise).

The confirmed cases number has already gone up by almost 21.5 thousand, just since this morning.
