(82,849 posts)Anything to depress turnout, because if this is anywhere near a fair fight, Trump loses and loses by a mile.

(1,620 posts)It showed pie charts for Michigan, I think, and the vote was two-thirds for Dems but the seats in the state legislature were two-thirds Pukes. Its insane that it has gotten this way.

That's why the Killer Clown didn't want a real census.
Massive turnout is the key - the ONLY way Dems win. We need at least a 6% win to prevent theft.
Let's Do it.

CRUSH AND HUMILIATE!
Take the Senate
Kill the Filibuster
Use a simple majority to pass M4A or a public option and restore pre-existing conditions language. Medicare is a FEDERAL program...not subject to the whims of state legislators.
Pass national legislation guaranteeing abortion rights.
Restore and strengthen the Voting Rights Act.
Rejoin the world in fighting for the climate! Expand incentives for cutting use of fossil fuels.
Let an independent Justice Department unpack the many crimes of the Trump regime. Prosecute!

(17,557 posts)Quite ambitious - and ALL are worthy goals. It would be wonderful to have a political party that was strong and united enough to support and deliver those goals.
Right now, I'll be thrilled to see BunkerBoy thrown out of OUR White House - taking the Senate would be the icing on the cake.
From there - WE GO FOR IT!!!!!!

(3,919 posts)If we dont, then McConnell will spend the next 4 years doing everything he can to block any action from President Biden and the House. His goal will be to make Biden seem ineffective and weaken his chances for reelection in 24.
MyOwnPeace
(17,557 posts)We MUST take the Senate - they control EVERYTHING! McTurtle gummed up the 8 years of the Obama Administration, especially the Garland nomination, and would continue to do so for the next 4 to 8 were he to remain the Majority Leader in the Senate.
We were SO fortunate (well, we DID work hard to make it happen!) to take the House in 2018 - I have nightmares thinking about what this KKKountry would be like now if we had not.
GET OUT THE VOTE - WE NEED THE SENATE!!!!!

(6,319 posts)before ever taking an effect. Presidency and congress are important, but SC has the final say on everything, except military matters. Expanding court to 11 would be most important objective for dems.

(2,950 posts)We had lower voter turnout and that's why Trump is the president. Trump received less votes in Wisconsin than Romney received in 2012 and still won.

(14,565 posts)Sorry, Nevada is not an 11 point state. Nothing about that state suggests a margin anything like that. I lived there for 24 years. Hillary carried Nevada by 2.4%
It causes me to doubt the entirety. I am not a believer in Ohio either, given the demographics of that state.

(5,215 posts)Its Fox News, people.
They are intentionally making Trump sound like an underdog now, so that in the last week or two, suddenly the numbers will break all Trumps way, and he will look like hes got momentum.
Dont believe anything from Fox. Work our asses off, make phone calls, sign up your friends, and lets get out the vote!!!

(14,725 posts)Of course, I'm happy that Biden is on the plus side in many of these places, but taking into account the margin of polling error, and the inevitable election day Republican fuckery, the numbers are too low for me to feel that we're cruising to an easy win.

(47,940 posts)Biden is ahead 5 points with only 5% left of undecideds or "other" for Trump to win over. PA is 7 points ahead with only 5% left.
If those numbers hold, those two states are lost to Trump. I saw similar figures on MI and WI the other day. It's possible all four states are lost to Trump.
If Biden can win outright on election night or the next day, Trump won't be able to throw a bunch of chaos into the mix. He can attempt to win via courts, but he'll be pretty unpersuasive.

(15,526 posts)... except Indiana will be red and Arizona will be blue this time.
By the way, Obama winning Indiana in 2008 seems like ancient history now! What the heck happened to that state in the meantime?!
I'm not too surprised by Ohio. It will probably be very close, but I think Biden will win here.
There was a LOT of animosity toward the Clintons around here, and obviously in states like PA, MI, WI and IA too. With so much anger being expressed by my past coworkers, I'm not even sure that Bill Clinton would have won in 2000 if he could have run for a third term. So don't take the results from 2016 as some kind of permanent change in the Midwest!
Edit: And maybe Biden can win GA and TX too!

(5,462 posts)First, Fox's polling outfit doesn't seem to have a thumb on the scale like Razzy or Trafalgar to drive public perception.
But even if they did and these polls are a product of that, how does it help drive a pro-Trump narrative to show him utterly non-competitive in Nevada, trailing quite seriously in Ohio, and leading more than comfortably in Pennsylvania? If that's a head fake to trick the Biden campaign, I'm not really seeing how it achieves that goal.
So these may actually be real. The NV and PA results are certainly quite believable, and I don't know if anyone really knows what's going on in OH.
In short, great news.

(15,526 posts)... despite how their "news" is full of lies and right-wing propaganda.
538.com has Biden slightly favored in Ohio now, and that's based on multiple polls.

(5,462 posts)You're right, and you ought to know based on your handle! I have some connections to Ohio, but haven't been there in about four years. The summer before the (ugh) 2016 election, in fact.
I guess I just lost faith in Ohio a while back, and have probably been lulled by the media not covering it as a battleground at ALL this cycle.
What do you make of Biden's chances to win it?
Buckeye_Democrat
(15,526 posts)... as many Trump signs this time. They were all over the place in 2016. Yet Trump still only won this county by about 1% four years ago.
During Trump's recent rally in Dayton (Vandalia), which I watched on a local TV channel, his super-spreader kooks were mostly loud when he criticized Clinton. They weren't very loud whenever he criticized Biden.
So my sense is that Biden will fare much better, and the polling supports it!
