If States can secede from the Union, can't they also be kicked out?

I would like for at least this threat of action.

"Any State that fucks with free and fair elections, or fails to uphold the will of the people of the state, SHALL be expelled from the United States of America"

2. States cannot secede from the Union

It’s illegal.

If memory serves, we fought a war over it and the secessionists lost, decisively.

3. Thing is, there are enough wing-nut states, they could call a Constitutional Convention.

It would propose an amendment to allow states to withdraw from the Union. If 2/3 of the states approve that amendment, then the states that are living off the tit of the lib'ril states could withdraw and pay their own expenses.

In fact, they may not even need to call for a convention.

If all of the loons in this country want to move to the Dakotas, or South Carolina, or Florida, I am favorably disposed to letting them secede, providing we immediately break of diplomatic ties, then seal the borders with land mines.

10. You've got it wrong,

it's 2/3rds of the Congress and 3/4ths of the states needed to ratify any change to the Constitution, 13 states can nullify any change to the Constitution.

15. But there are only 7 solid Blue states in the Union.

Then there are swing states and nut job states.

The document could be amended to allow for secession.

There was this little skirmish called the US Civil War that happened because of someone trying.

the issue was decided somewhere in the 1860s with the American Civil War. It was a big war and was in all the newspapers. I believe there are a few books around about it.

12. If the will of the people is overturned in order to re-install trump, there is no union.

It would be like a self-secession for those states.

The response would either be another Civil War or a peaceful split.

13. Please, not going to happen...I am tired of the hysterical cries from some (not saying you)

of all powerful Trump ( ) doing …something.- new electors, throwing out ballots, martial law ETC to win even if he loses. He isn't all powerful, and it is looking like he will lose in a landslide. This BS talk is to make Democrats feel it is a waste of time to vote him out which is Trump's only chance....won't work. And please, for the love of God people, don't help Trump by this sort of fear mongering. Stay positive and vote.

14. There is no language in the Constitution about secession.

None.

There may be some law and court cases...blah, blah, blah.

The states that seceded in 1860-61 were brought back into the union by brute force. Not that I have any sympathy for them, but it was and is the cold, hard truth.

If a state were to try to secede now, the battle would be in the courts and would go on the grounds there is no language in the Constitution on it and therefore it is a power left to the state via the 10th amendment.

It would be a big mess just like Brexit.
