as long as they're right-wing. Never forget that. Most justices appointed by Democrats have been more moderate/left of center. Nobody even remotely close to Bernie Sanders in terms of ideology has been nominated by Democrats in the last 30 years AFAIK.

4. I thought about this just 30 minutes while driving

We nominate moderates for presidential elections. They nominate rightwing assholes.

Our moderate president picks moderate judges. Their rightwing nutjob picks rightwing nutjob judges.

Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton are moderates. Obama was a moderate. Trump is a batshit rightwing nut.

Obama nominates a moderate judge for SCOTUS who was a compromise nomination. Many Republicans actually liked Merrick Garland and saw him as a reasonable pick. Trump has nominated nothing but rightwing partisan nutjobs.

I wrote a post about this not too long ago.

They bitch and complain about activist "liberal" judges legislating from the bench, meanwhile they are appointing judges they want to enact their agenda.

They install these judges not to interpret standing laws but to strike down acts of congress that they disagree with. They install these judges so they can have safe havens to ensure there are no obstacles to their batshit crazy agenda. They install judges who will stay out of their way.

They like to call them "constructionist" or "constitutionalist" and other fluffy bullshit words.
