I've had mikes that I could use to pound nails and they'd still work great for 20 years.
Now, studio mikes, not so much.
Those fit into your "never do that" category!
I knocked my best recording mike from a desk onto a carpeted floor. I immediately plugged it in and checked to see if it was ok. Lucky for me, the floor was carpeted!
But, stage mikes...
You can drop those. Not throw them off a building, but dropping... I can live with it!
